What is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)?

If you are considering furthering your studies at the University of Malta, or returning to education after an extended period away, it is important to remember that learning does not only take place in a classroom, and every experience counts.

The knowledge, skills, and competencies you have gained through work experience, professional development, volunteering, or other life experiences may be recognised through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process.

RPL allows the University to assess and formally acknowledge relevant learning acquired outside traditional educational settings. This learning may be taken into account when applying for a postgraduate degree, potentially supporting admission or contributing towards academic credit, depending on the programme and University regulations.

Hear from Ruth Sammut Casingena, who sought career and self-development after a long time away from university. She attributes it to her love for knowledge.
