The MA in Film Studies within the Faculty of Arts, in collaboration with Wicked Comics – the NGO behind the ever-successful Malta Comic Con – have joined forces to host a memorable double-bill talk on Tuesday, 11 November at 18:00, in Room 120, Dun Mikiel Xerri Lecture Centre (LC), Msida Campus.

The event will feature Andy Frain, delivering a talk entitled “Bringing Anime to the West: The Business Behind the 1990s Boom”, and Dave King, whose presentation “Adventures in Storytelling: From Comics to the Big Screen” will take the audience on a journey through his multifaceted career.

The evening will conclude with Frain and King discussing together the making of U2’s animated music video of “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me”, part of the soundtrack for Joel Schumacher’s Batman Forever [italicised] (1995), a video that won two MTV European Music Awards and was named by Rolling Stone as one of the greatest animated music videos of all time.
Attendance is free of charge and open to the general public.

Andy Frain is the founder of the anime distribution company Manga Entertainment and the executive producer of the 1995 anime feature 'Ghost in the Shell', which director James Cameron hailed as “the first truly adult animation film to reach a level of literary and visual excellence”. After leaving Manga Entertainment, Frain founded the animation production company Touchwood Animation, as well as CGI studios in London and Bucharest. Together, Frain and his teams have worked on numerous films, television series, commercials, and music videos.
