"It’s one of those things that is a bit shameful, so you don’t want to tell anyone that it’s happening.”
Workplace bullying and sexual harassment remain persistent challenges worldwide, undermining employee well-being, organisational trust, and gender equality.
Although many countries, including Iceland, have introduced legal safeguards and in recent years, expanded awareness and training initiatives, evidence suggests these efforts have not yet translated into sustained reductions in harmful behaviours or meaningful shifts in reporting norms.
Dr Ólöf Júlíusdóttir and Dr Guðbjört Guðjónsdóttir will present comparative findings from a 2025 study that replicates a nationally scoped investigation first conducted in 2019.
The findings are based on survey data and qualitative interviews that shed light on evolving patterns and the lived experiences of workers in the Icelandic labour market.
