Connected Continents: The New Australia-EU Trade and Security Agreements

The EU and Australia may be far apart geographically but they share common values.

In March 2026, they concluded negotiations on a new free trade agreement and adopted a new security and defence partnership.

Together with the High Commissioner for Australia to Malta, His Excellency, Mr Matt Skelly and the Head of the European Commission Representation in Malta, Dr Maria Elena Despott, we will discuss how these agreements will deepen their relations and help them navigate today's turbulent world environment.
