Event: From Script to Archive: The Words of Rose Lapira
Date: Monday 2 March 2026
Time: 12:00 (noon)
Venue: UM Library
As the new year gathers momentum, the University of Malta’s Equity Office is launching its dynamic and wide-ranging events calendar with the Women’s Archive Exhibition, a compelling showcase dedicated to preserving, celebrating, and reflecting on women’s histories, voices, and contributions.
Hosted within the University of Malta Library, the exhibition will be officially inaugurated on Monday 2 March 2026 at 12:00, and will remain open to the public until 13 March 2026.
This curated exhibition features a selection of archival materials donated to the University of Malta Women’s Archive by Rose Lapira, a distinguished art critic and former university lecturer. The collection offers a unique look into her career through a variety of her own television programme scripts and newspaper articles.
The exhibition aims to raise awareness about the importance of documenting women’s experiences, many of which have historically been underrepresented or overlooked in traditional archives.
Open to students, staff, and members of the general public, the Women’s Archive Exhibition offers a meaningful space for reflection, learning, and dialogue. It also underscores the University’s ongoing commitment to equity, inclusion, and the recognition of diverse contributions within academia and beyond.
Visitors are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to engage with the archive throughout its two-week run and to reflect on the role of memory, representation, and history in advancing gender equality.
