Local Action for Island Impact: Celebrating Biodiversity in SIDS

Event: Local Action for Island Impact: Celebrating Biodiversity in SIDS

Date: Friday 22 May, 2026

Time: 11:00

Venue: Virtual Webinar

This year join us to celebrate the International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) theme, “Acting locally for global impact”.

This year's theme marks a unique opportunity to highlight the crucial grassroots environmental work being done in Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

For island communities healthy marine ecosystems are essential for livelihoods and prosperity, making high-quality data a conservation priority.

Citizen and Community science initiatives can help empower local island communities to bridge data gaps and lead local marine stewardship efforts.

As we celebrate IDB 2026, we will dive into exploring citizen generated data and community-led projects on marine and coastal biodiversity across SIDS.

Register via Zoom

Supported by the Islands and Small States Institute at UM.
