Event: Polykosmik: Materiality and Memory in the Digital World

Date: 30 October - 08 November

Time: Various

Venue: MUŻA, Valletta

From 30 October to 8 November 2026, the Community Space at MUŻA, Valletta will host Polykosmik: Materiality and Memory in the Digital World, an exhibition and educational programme examining the relationship between cultural heritage, digital technologies and contemporary forms of interpretation.

Developed within IMPULSE (IMmersive digitisation: uPcycling cULtural heritage towards new reviving StratEgies), the exhibition presents a series of experimental virtual environments and research-led projects exploring how digitised cultural heritage assets can be reinterpreted through immersive technologies, artistic practice and collaborative methodologies.

Through virtual reality, audiovisual material, digital interfaces, tactile elements and physical objects, visitors are invited to consider how collections, archives and heritage sites can generate new forms of research, storytelling, learning and public engagement.

The exhibition brings together approaches from across the cultural heritage and creative sectors, including projects engaging with Ġgantija and Malta’s prehistoric heritage, archival material from archives from all around Europe, performance, sound, digital reconstruction, AI-assisted processes and speculative virtual environments.

The programme will be of particular relevance to GLAM professionals, artists, researchers, educators, cultural practitioners and members of the public with an interest in cultural heritage and digital culture.
