Date: Friday 30 April 2021
Time: 20:00
Duration: 15 minutes
Venue: Online (YouTube)
'Colliding with Beckett' is an online performance created by Year 2 students in collaboration with Year 1 students from the Department of Theatre Studies, School of Performing Arts, University of Malta.
Inspired by five works of Samuel Beckett, namely Rockaby, Not I, What Where, Endgame, and Play, the performance is a 'lockdown' collision with the five works of Beckett. Rather than interpreting, the performers collide with the texts of a playwright whose works remain ever so relevant, especially in our current time.
Five performers meet, virtually, somewhere. With their imagination, they strive to push the limits of what is possible, if there are at all any limits left to push.
Performers (Year 2 students): David Dimitrov, Miguel Formosa, Sara Gauci, Martha Maria Mangani, Mathea Martin.
Directed by: Dr Paul Sadot, Visiting Research Fellow at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Performative Arts (CIPA) Birmingham City University, UK.
Light and Sound Design Assistants (Year 1 Students): Kira Borg Marks, Michela Buhagiar Soler, Josue Formosa, Rakelle Portelli, Alessandra Sgobio.
Tutors: Dr Mario Frendo, Dr Paul Sadot, Mario Sammut –Sound Design, Ismael Portelli – Light Design
