Two works by Prof. Frank Camilleri from the Department of Theatre Studies (School of Performing Arts) feature among the fourteen projects that have been nominated for the Theatre and Performance Research Association (TaPRA) Award for outstanding research. These consist of his full-length monograph Performer Training Reconfigured: Post-psychophysical Perspectives for the Twenty-first Century (London and New York: Methuen Bloomsbury, 2019), and his collaborative online resource project Physical Actor Training – An Online A-Z (Drama Online, 2018).
Performer Training Reconfigured offers a radical re-evaluation of current approaches to performer training, equipping readers with a set of new ways of thinking about and ultimately ‘doing’ training. The Online A-Z is a digital resource of over 60 dynamic videos created by actor trainers Paul Allain (University of Kent) and Frank Camilleri (University of Malta) with filmmakers Stacie Lee Bennett and Peter Hulton. Prof. Allain was the principal investigator of this Leverhulme-funded project. University of Malta students and staff can access all A-Z films here.
Students interested in theatre, music, dance, and performing arts are invited to visit the School’s website for more information about the courses on offer at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
