Engaging the Contemporary (EtC) 2022, is the seventh edition of a series of an annual international conference organised by the Department of Philosophy of the University of Malta. EtC seeks to promote an interdisciplinary approach to a variety of current debates, valorising the coming together of academics and graduate students to present rigorous papers about topics they are researching. EtC has hosted several prominent as well as up-and-coming scholars from all over the globe, promoting a professional and friendly approach, emphasising the role of engagement and on-going discussion about philosophical issues pertaining to contemporary times.

This year's theme- Confronting Ethics- seeks to examine and bring into discussion recent engagements with the history of ethics as well as present-day ethical theories and practices as confronted by contemporary philosophers. The aim of the conference is to bring together various philosophical traditions into a conversation that furthers our understanding of the ethical perplexities that beset contemporary times.
