College representatives

A number of JC members of staff represent the College or act as delegates for the Principal on University of Malta (UM) boards and committees.

The ACCESS Disability Support Committee (ADSC) was set up to report to Council and Senate regarding the ways that accessibility to lectures, other teaching sessions and examinations can be achieved for each individual with a disability and to consider requests by candidates for MATSEC Examinations and by University and Junior College students for access arrangements and to approve reasonable access arrangements that enable such students to demonstrate their attainment and capabilities.

The Student Societies Committee was set up to review Student Societies for recognition by UM, examine Student Societies' statutes and forward recommendations to Senate for the recognition of a new student society.

The Committee on Race and Ethnic Affairs (CREA) serves as the University’s focal point for monitoring and addressing issues related to race and ethnic prejudice, with a special focus on developing comprehensive and effective action in the three areas indicated below, namely Awareness, Access and Integration, and Safeguarding and Enforcement. In pursuance of its mandate, the Committee liaises with the relevant University structures and stakeholders as necessary.

Originally set up in 1991 as the Gender Issues Committee, the current Gender Equality & Sexual Diversity (GESD) committee acts as a focal point on gender and LGBTIQ+ issues. Its terms of reference are to advise the University Council on issues of gender and equality. The Committee works on several areas including the identification of sources of unequal opportunities or treatment with respect to gender, and promotes a policy of equal opportunity.
