Abstract: This study seeks to identify systemically important banks in Malta. Towards this end, a composite indicator is constructed for selected banks to quantitatively gauge the relative importance of these banks to the domestic financial sector. The results suggest that from the banks considered, BOV and HSBC Malta have the highest degree of systemic importance, and are considerably more important than other banks.
