Abstract: Christian and Islamic balances in the Middle East as well as in the West this series will attempt to chronicle events leading to how the Mediterranean sea, cradle of civilisation, was carved between two main religions, Christianity and a few centuries later Islam. The series will bring to live points of conflicts and advances or retreats which took place in Eastern countries, North Africa, Southern Europe (up to Poitiers) and above all Spain. Malta too was part of this chequered history at the birth of Islam and continued to change hands until the big Great Siege of 1565 when it became a no-go land for Islam. Listeners would understand what led to todays conflicts and how each side could understand the other side through the Memory of the Future ie History.
Description: These 3 programs discuss the social life of the Maltese people with guests Prof Carmel Cassar and Prof Dionisius Agius
