Abstract: This dissertation looks to explore what the day-to-day lives of the inhabitants of Malta and specifically Mdina were like during the fourteenth century based on published primary sources and other analyses of the period by various authors. Background and context on the period is given in the first chapter, with the following chapters providing insight on topics relevant to what occurred. The second chapter covers Mdina and its relationship and comparison to Birgu and the outlying rural settlements of Malta. The third chapter covers life in the city of Mdina for those that lived there, including the obligations for the Militia, the life for the Jewish population, and how the Church played a part in the lives of the inhabitants.
