Abstract: Current narrowband point-to-point radio microwave link technology relies heavily on analog components for channel tuning and gain control. Although these systems provide a good performance, analog components drift with time necessitating frequent tuning throughout the lifetime of the equipment. This drawback can be significantly mitigated by adopting digital techniques to carry out the radio functions. This work presents the design of a digital software system to replace functions traditionally implemented using analog components and illustrates, through measurement results, the feasibility of the system.
