| Abstract: | This report investigates some salient issues relating to undeclared work in Malta and updates a previous report written in 2007. The report starts by defining undeclared work and the related concept of the shadow economy. Subsequently it examines the extent of the shadow economy and undeclared work in Malta. The third section deals with some of the more recent measures being carried out by the government in order to reduce the phenomenon. The report concludes by proposing some suggestions on how to tackle undeclared work and the shadow economy. |
