| Abstract: | This study has been carried out as part of an inter-disciplinary report commissioned to Europadvise Ltd. by the Unjoni Haddiema Maghqudin. The aim of the report is study to implications of non-membership of the European Union to Maltese society. In particular, this study compares the environmental implications (together with the resultant social and economic benefits and costs) of EU membership with those of other scenarios, namely, adopting the “Switzerland in the Mediterranean” approach; being full partners in the Euro-Mediterranean Process, but not as EU members; adopting an Association Agreement similar to that prior to the re-activation of application for EU membership. |
