| Abstract: | Joseph Abela's book, The Maltese Merchant Fleet of the 19th Century is about Maltese maritime routes and how these criss-crossed the Mediterranean world during the 19th century. By then, distinction was being made between war ships and trading vessels. Abela's book focuses on tile latter, in particular ships that are being built in Malta during the first half of the 19th century. These types of ships plied the waters by sail. |
