Abstract: The number of studies on the christology of St. Augustine is surprisingly small, compared with the total amount of works on his life, person and writings, which is already immense. The reason for this discrepancy seems to be that his life and person, philosophy, doctrines on trinity and grace were considered as of original interest. His christology, however, was regarded as rather "traditional", i.e. of no new impact on the development of the christological doctrine and therefore of little interest for research.
