Citation: Cachia, J. (2018). Evaluating the potential of Malta as a Roman Catholic pilgrimage destination (Bachelor's dissertation).
Abstract: This long essay presents an initial opinion from the local members of the clergy and other church workers regarding the subject of religious tourism and pilgrimage. More importantly the essay seeks to tackle the subject from the perspective of the Maltese Islands. Pilgrimage has shown growth within the tourism industry on a worldwide scale and this increase has also been noticed here in Malta. With a predominantly Roman Catholic tradition, the islands of Malta should in theory, be equipped to welcome foreign Roman Catholic visitors on pilgrimage as well as attract religiously motivated tourists.
