Abstract: The Internet consists of a wide range of information available for everyone therefore people are opting to plan their own holiday, rather than buying a pre-packaged tour. However, planning your own holiday online requires a lot or searching through various different websites, which is quite time consuming. On the Internet, one can also find websites that are not relevant to what one is looking for therefore this makes it very complex to combine all the relevant material into a single holiday plan. The main aim of this project is to gain knowledge in the area of self-planned tourism and the IT- based applications used to help each visitor. Moreover, this can help with learning more about the benefits and technologies of these types of applications and the current issues of this problem area. This project focuses on developing a prototype to help such tourists in the process of creating their own personalized holiday itinerary.
