Title: Exploring same-sex marriage : a justification of love beyond gender

Homosexuality -- Psychological aspects
Issue Date: 2015
Abstract: In this study I shall make an argument in favour of gay marriage by making reference to homosexuality as a history and as a science, while also discussing the concept of marriage as it was and as it has become. I will observe the various instances of homosexuality in different periods of time with specific reference to the Greek and Roman era, with the hope of showing how such behaviour was quite common, and follow through with how society moved to the view of homosexuality we have today. Then I take into account various different scientific and psychological studies that argue with regards to homosexuality being either natural or a consequence of environmental issues, this with the intent of removing any doubt of homosexuality being a lifestyle choice or trend. Finally, I will look into the countless changes that occurred within the tradition of marriage to make it what it is today in order to refute the belief that marriage should be untouchable. Then, I will attempt to revert marriage back into its most genuine reason; love. I will show how marriage should have no other agenda greater than a promise of love for another, and move on to claim that since love does not discriminate, neither should marriage.
