Abstract: This dissertation sheds a light on the different models a teacher can take in relation to how she builds and modifies her relationship with her students. The models presented by Nigel Tubbs (2005) have been used as a framework to carry out this dissertation. The three main chapters will dwell upon and challenge the thoughts presented by Nigel Tubbs (2005), namely, The Master, The Servant, and The Spiritual Teacher. Each chapter will put forward ideas presented by different thinkers like Plato, Foucault, Kant, Freire, Buber, and others, to help investigate and tackle the various issues raised in every chapter. These different ways of being a teacher will be observed and discussed in detail to explain better how the teacher presents herself to her students. Moreover, the models presented by Tubbs (2005) will be enhanced with the help of secondary sources, namely books and movies, related to narratives of teachers. Finally, through this journey, the reader will be able to recognise the numerous challenges and contingencies that are present in the teaching profession.
