| Abstract: | The workforce of Malta International Airport plc is presently in the region of 410 employees, fifty (50) of whom are employed as Janitors. Like all other service workers, janitors are vulnerable to a variety of dangers stemming from their exposure to physical and chemical hazards, infection agents, as well as the possibility of that accident may happen. However, the risks involved and potentially dangerous actions or situations can be minimized, if not eliminated, through the establishment and enforcement of preventive measures, standard working practices, as well as through the provision of adequate information and training. This study tries to assess the awareness of the Janitors employed at Malta International Airport on occupational health and safety issues. This is carried out through a questionnaire which was distributed to all Janitors. The results of the questionnaire highlighted the lack of information, training and awareness of the Janitors on Heath and Safety issues and try to put forwards a line of action to address this problem. |
