Abstract: This long essay covers the various techniques from the start of a project till the end when the drainage network will be commissioned, including preparations, studying of the area concerned, and how the work is performed. It also includes a detailed study of what a sample of people think about the works that are done by the drainage department, and it's contractors. This analysis was done with the use of a questionnaire, in which various people from different age groups where asked to answer a set of questions regarding the sewage system in general and about the contracts, including the contractor's efficiency and that of their workers. The people where also asked if they are happy with the way that the rainwater is being collected and utilised in Malta because this makes a lot of difference in the drainage system. In the first chapter a literature review is conducted including the procedures of a new stretch of drainage network and a description of the various methods used. This research was conducted to better know what the public thinks about the system, and also, hopefully, to help in the process of planning future projects.
