Abstract: Work in reinforced concrete can be broadly sub-divided into three categories, videlicet (a) new design, (b) strengthening of existing members (or structures) and (c) assessment of structures in the damaged state prior to eventual repair and/or strengthening. Great developments and achievements have been mobilised as regards (a) but it seems that the performance of strengthened members could still be improved. Very limited effort has been spent on the assessment of residual strength of members with debonded reinforcement. [...]
