| Abstract: | The purpose of this thesis is to analyse the first season of the first Spanish Netflix series, Las chicas del cable (2017), in order to give a more complex image of the 1920s in Spain. The first part investigates what Spanish society was like before the Second Republic. Here, we talk about the development towards modernization, the socio-economic situation and the living conditions, in particular, those of women. In the second part, we analyse with special interest the issues of discrimination, oppression and domestic violence in the series, highlighting the life stories of the main female characters. |
