Abstract: The article presents the set of three school journals and their added value of schools scheme. From the first printed journal in Msida primary school, their objectives slowly switched from teaching Italian grammar to the propagation of basic virtues, the importance of education, temperance, and traditional ways of life. Published mostly in Italian and printed by the pupils themselves, they reflect their schools' outstanding traditions in the local schooling system. Two of them, Valletta primary school and Senglea Primary School were along with one in Gozo, the oldest two schools under that system.
