Abstract: This research is intended to understand the concept of design thinking and design flows, and/or strategies applied to project management and its importance to demonstrate the benefits of design elements and how it helps projects develop. The scope of this study is to gather a number of participants wherein interviews with a set of questions will be asked throughout to further develop the study and reach the research objectives. The aim is to verify whether design is being implemented in organisations, and to determine how crucial design really is in project management. The results have shown that design thinking and design strategies are used within project management. However, there are a handful of factors which are more critical, such as communication and being a good coordinator of tasks, which is essentially the main job of a project manager. This suggests that there is more to be researched with regards to project management. Other factors could also be considered, but design still seems to be a priority when engaging with participants. At the end of the research, it was established that most project managers have similar traits and thoughts amongst them. They all enjoy working in a team and are all satisfied when a project is completed within time and budget frame, which are aims that should always be attained by project managers. Communication was the factor which was highlighted the most during the interviews and I believe this opened for more room in terms of research.
