The double bass in music history and in the performance of chamber music

Abstract

To the best of my knowledge, no topics on the history of the double bass covered in my dissertation have been presented to university in the form of academic dissertations. My research on the history of double bass is mainly based on personal inquiry in form of talks and discussions with international luthiers and colleagues of the Malta Philharmonic orchestra, and supervision and practical work on the performance of chamber music with my supervisor Dr Hans-Jürgen Nagel.
