| Abstract: | Management was utilised in this dissertation because it helps in managing organisational strategies and maintaining future objectives. It is a subject that leaders should have basics on when starting their own start-up companies. Nowadays competition has increased which makes it quite harder to reach a competitive edge. Thus, if someone wants to reach environmental sustainability one is likely to join the ESG-listed companies or the ESG Alliance. It is a way to encourage companies in their day-to-day process to continue implementing environmental management guidelines so that leaders won’t reduce their motivation to implement environmental sustainability. The aim of this dissertation is done to influence start-up companies and even old companies to start implementing transformational leadership with their employees as it is an influential and a motivating way to treat your employees within the workplace, as well as influencing environmental sustainability in the best way possible. Environmental sustainability is not easy to implement as what one may think but it is something that is needed to help future generations. This dissertation serves as a proof of concept that transformational leadership is the best type of leadership to influence environmental sustainability in any company but in this case, the research was done on ESG companies. It also proves that more investments and persistence need to be done on environmental sustainability. The proposed system is to make use of the ESG-listed guidelines to implement environmental sustainability and makes use of the four characteristics of transformational leadership to implement such guidelines. This increases shareholder value and also the value of customers since nowadays everyone has become aware of the environmental crises and as a company, everyone has to try and adapt to it. New investments and changes have to be done and for this to happen, workers must adapt to these changes. One of the main problems that Malta currently faces is the resistance of change for new procedures and investments. This may not only be the problem of Malta but in any country. It was concluded from this research that transformational leadership was not implemented at its best, many as already stated, faced the problem of resistance, other leaders had their own way of leading depending on their position. More investments need to be implemented to sustain environmental sustainability and as a society we are still immature according to interviewees. The proposed system is that more stricter regulations must be done when forced to workers and to the public by maintaining a performance appraisal. Many limitations have been faced during interviewees. Such as lack of response from companies due to data protection and many would not know how to respond to such questions. Many have provided reasonable information, and some were speaking about everything without even answering what has been asked from them. |
