Abstract: The main goal of the IDD is to increase customers' protection when dealing with insurance products. Thus, the IDD lays down several rules to achieve this purpose across the European Union and they include the cross-selling practices. However, the regulation of these practices is not entirely provided by the IDD. For many products or services - banking, investment and payment - the IDD refers to the rules contained in the Directives governing the offering of these products or services. The essay will highlight whether the regulatory framework applicable to cross-sell insurance products and these products or services - banking, investment and payment - is consistent with the goal of customer protection.
