Abstract: Summary: Regulatory policies on intermediaries: reinsurance v. insurance? - The current (lack of) regulation of reinsurance intermediaries under the EU Directive 2002/92/EC - From solvency to unfair practice: a possible new regulatory approach - Reinsurance mediation, or reinsurance intermediaries? Directive 2002/92/EC on insurance mediation focuses on intermediary activity, because this is the way to overcome the substantial differences between national provisions which created barriers to the takingup and pursuit of the activities of reinsurance ( and insurance) intermediaries in the EU Single Market, in spite of the former Council Directive 77 /92/EEC of 13 December 1976.
