| Abstract: | Oh Blessed Solitude! I am already quite at home in this small cell. I have not yet gotten bored here, just the contrary. I am alone, certainly, but never was Our Lord so near to me. Without poverty, the religious is like a Pharisee, a bourgeois in a convent even if wearing his habit. Here in Holland, perhaps more than in anywhere else, we have gotten too much used to comfort. We are becoming ridiculous to the eyes of God in front of whom we have professed our vows. |
