Abstract: It has been said that a book is a gift you can open again and again. 'Resilient Women: Conversations about mastering life' is one such book. Reading through the narratives of fifteen women gets you to reflect deeply on the meaning of the purpose in life which is characterised by a strong need to fulfil a mission and to be of service to others. The book is not the typical book where you read somebody else's deep intellect to research informed insights about women in careers; rather the book lends itself as the primary canvas on which these women present their life and career stories which are atypical but so real and so humane. This book is a living testimony to the extraordinary capabilities of the human spirit and what people with a strong will to succeed can achieve even though life will not always throw back roses. Let ‘Resilient Women: Conversations about mastering life’ be a companion to other women who will be inspired and that in spite of all the obstacles one may encounter, each and every one is called to be of service to others through their activities and their calling in life.
