| Abstract: | In a letter dated 30 November 2013, two Government Members on the parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) requested the Committee to investigate the manner in which encroachment permits were issued between December 2012 and March 2013. According to media coverage cited in the letter, 100 encroachment permits were issued during the last two months of the previous administration, when Government usually issued 150 permits on an annual basis. This request was subsequently referred to the Auditor General on 25 August 2014, wherein the National Audit Office (NAO) was requested to investigate the encroachment permits issued during the period immediately preceding the 2013 general election. |
