Abstract: Food security is a topic of major concern for all of humanity. Many organisations, entities, scholars, and individuals, among others, have examined it. Nevertheless, food security is primarily discussed in underdeveloped countries, and studies on this subject focusing on developed countries, are minimal. This study intends to reflect on Malta's food security predicament as a small island, physically separated from the European mainland, and so reliant on sea and air transport. This study examines the subject from a policy standpoint, determining whether food insecurity is a problem for the Maltese islands and what policy issues Malta faces in this regard. Statistics are consulted to analyse the Maltese food security deficit. Additionally, this research uses interviews as the primary data collection method. Interviews with different stakeholders are done. To establish who the stakeholders are, a stakeholder analysis is conducted. The amalgamation of such data gives more credible results and a more reliable conclusion.
