| Abstract: | Cultural heritage is generally sub-divided into 2 groups : the movable and the immovable. The immovable patrimony consists of the built environment and includes both architectural buildings and archaeological sites. The Mediterranean region is extremely rich in both. These range from great cathedrals and palaces to the more humble vernacular architecture; from the simple excavated foundations of a hut or dwelling to the Coliseum in Rome and the magnificent pyramids of Egypt. |
