Abstract: Purpose: This study aims to investigate the possibilities and limitations of distributed ledger technologies as a system for payment processes in the automotive sector. Furthermore, the study seeks to identify guidelines for designing a DLT system for payment processes. The expected impact on the automotive industry and barriers to implementing blockchain solutions within the industry are also explored. Finally, the study aims to determine current developments and the Design: Semi-structured interviews have been conducted with eight experts as part of a qualitative research method.
