| Abstract: | This needs analysis study aims to identify the key areas of improvement for the human resources (HR) function within a recruitment services company. Through a combination of interviews with key stakeholders, a review and analysis of existing HR policies and practices, this study examines the current state of the HR function within the small-sized company of choice and highlights areas where changes are necessary. On such grounds, this qualitative study explores the employees' perspective. Participants were drawn from a small-sized private recruitment services company in the Maltese recruitment services sector for the purpose of conducting seven (7) semi-structured, face-to-face in-depth interviews. Data was analysed using Thematic Analysis (Braun & Clarke, 2013). The findings suggest that the company's HR function has several strengths, including a robust recruitment process and a culture of employee engagement. However, there are also several areas of improvement to be addressed. These include a lack of structured training and development programs, limited diversity and inclusion initiatives, and an absence of performance management frameworks. Based on these findings, several recommendations have been made to improve the HR function within the recruitment services company. Overall, this study highlights the importance of a strong HR function within the recruitment services company of choice. It also identifies the potential benefits that can be achieved through targeted improvements. By implementing the recommendations outlined in this study, it is asserted that the company can enhance its HR function and drive greater employee engagement and retention, resulting in improved business outcomes. |
