Abstract: The purpose of this long essay is to analyse the way in which a Water Distribution Network is to be properly designed, planned, implemented and finally operated in an optimum manner. This paper will also examine the technical methodology used for pipelaying. In particular, certain local pipelaying projects, performed by contractors to obtain good water quality and performance from laying of pipelines to the final re-instatement is going to be compared with the methodology used in foreign countries. Materials, fittings, tools and devices used in our Local Water Distribution Network are also going to be used for comparative purposes in an attempt to determine whether they are adequate enough and of a long-life guarantee. This paper will also examine how the regions and the metering section are functioning technically since the change from districts to regions. Finally, these issues are going to be proved by means of a quantitative survey. From the results obtained in this questionnaire, one concludes positively or negatively if the Local Water Distribution Network must be optimised or not.
