Abstract: Insulin has important effects on the metabolism, whereby its properties and functions are outlined as the "storage hormone". Notwithstanding, it is antagonized by other hormones, particularly by hydrocortisone, adrenaline, glucagon and the growth hormone. A description of how these hormones affect insulin`s function is provided. Additionally, insulin`s association with Cushing`s syndrome is evaluated.
