| Abstract: | Lill-Gran Mastru Cotoner, a poem by Giov. Francesco Buonamico (1639-1680), retained in Manuscript Number 144 at the National Library of Malta (Nuova scuola della antica lingua punica scoperta nel moderno parlare maltese e gozitano), was published for the first time by Agostino Levanzin in In-Naħla in 1910, but rose to national importance when republished by Ninu Cremona in 1931. It was written in about 1675 to be recited in the main square of Valletta during the popular traditional feast of Calendimaggio. |
