| Abstract: | This volume of essays came about after two conferences I convened titled ‘Dynamics of Mediterranean Artistic Interactions in the Late Medieval and Renaissance periods’ which were held on 9 March 2018 and 10 April 2019 organized by the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Malta Valletta Campus. The third conference was to be held on 27 April 2020, for which a call was issued in January 2020, but which had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The two conferences that transpired aimed to bring the discussion on artistic exchange in the Mediterranean to the Central Mediterranean, to Malta in particular, which was a melting pot of cultures throughout the Middle Ages and which continued in the Renaissance period. Healthy discussions ensued, and contacts and friendships were established through which further topics of research were investigated. |
