Evaluation of a small parcel of land at Tal-Imailek limits of Dingli

Abstract

A small parcel of agricultural land at Tal-Imailek, Limits of Dingli, has been neglected over the past couple of decades. The few surviving fruit trees are barren, the rubble walls collapsing in places. Truckloads of limestone blocks have been deposited in parts of the land. The water from the well diverted to the street, without any prior approval and pilfered. The purpose of this study is to explore the most sustainable way forward in developing this small parcel of land given the limited constraints of both the owners and the plot. One of the most important resources of agriculture is the soil, hence a study on the soil will be undertaken together with an evaluation of the possibilities for future land use. The soil test revealed that although the nutrient level is low, both the pH and salinity levels are at acceptable levels. The evaluation process mapped out various options that may be taken.
