Abstract: Physical Education plays a crucial role in promoting a healthy way of life, particularly in the face of urgent public health challenges such as obesity and mental health problems (European Commission, 2005). Given the time limitations faced by families due to work obligations, schools play a crucial role in providing education and encouragement for a healthy and engaged lifestyle (UNESCO, 2016). This study examines the state of Physical Education in Gozo, analysing the difficulties, approaches, and influence of PE on the health and well-being of students in this distinct area. An in-depth analysis of the role of PE is essential for comprehending how schools can actively promote the development of healthy habits among the younger population. The main aim of this study is to explore and elicit a clear picture of the realities of PE in Gozitan schools within compulsory schooling. This involves in gathering an understanding of how the subject is being taught; what learning outcomes are being targeted; and whether all students are included despite their diverse needs. By conducting interviews with PE teachers from Gozo who work in various educational sectors, I intend to investigate the difficulties and challenges that these PE teachers face on a day-to-day basis, such as whether they have the necessary resources and safe spaces to work and gather data in relation to the strategies they use to overcome their difficulties (National Audit Office Malta, 2010).
