Abstract: Breast cancer is the malignancy with the highest incidence (Figure1) amongst Maltese females (n=300) and also in other European countries. With the number of cases of breast cancer being diagnosed, it is of relevance to understand the side effects that breast cancer patients suffer from, as a result of their treatment as this may have an impact on the patient’s quality of life. In patients undergoing radiotherapy for breast cancer, the most common side effects that a patient may experience include fatigue which is mentioned by nearly 80% of the patients. Fatigue can also persist in breast cancer survivors; up to 10 years after the end of treatment. [excerpt]
