Abstract: In the 1960s Goffredo Parise made use of a series of interesting similes to describe the men and women of his time. The similarity between human being and animal gave rise to comparisons with objects, which brought with it the end of traditional physiognomy. Can this rhetorical choice which was deeply influenced by American post-physiognomy be considered a lucid and visionary anticipation of posthumanism? How did it shape Parise's depiction of the female figure?
