Abstract: Parallel Existences. This is the evocative, almost poetic title of the work published in 2018 by the Notarial Archives Foundation, an association of people born to give new light to the "derelict, unkempt and mistreated Notarial Archives of Malta". At the core of the book lies the concept of archival fragments extraordinarily pictured by the work of the photographer and artist Alex Attard. A collection of wide-ranging essays frame and embrace the photographs of some of these damaged notarial volumes, whose shadows of black and white invite the reader/observer to experience the wonder of imaginary shapes and, at the same time, provoke a bitter taste for such a loss of information.
