| Abstract: | Much of the controversy over Amoris Laetitia has centred on the age-old question in the Church of who is “permitted” to receive Holy Communion and who isn’t. Nevertheless, as the general focus of the exhortation on the “gospel of the family” makes evident, this is not Pope Francis’ concern in drafting the exhortation, nor is it the raison d’etre behind the now famous Chapter 8 that presents a pastoral approach of “Accompanying, Discerning and Integrating Weakness” for families in complex situations. |
